Our Story
Kim Cusack established Faces Physiotherapy in 2021, Ireland’s first TMJ and facial pain physiotherapy clinic.
She qualified from University College Dublin with a First Class Honours Degree in Physiotherapy and has 14 years experience treating TMJ disorder, orofacial pain and neck related conditions. Her passion for this area was ignited having suffered from symptoms of this disorder personally.
She has several years experience working internationally, in both New Zealand and Australia, where she honed her craft in this specialised area. Kim Cusack has observed arthroscopic and open facial surgery in order to appreciate the entire patient experience and understand the need for holistic Multidisciplinary Care. She received extensive training in the Goralsky Craniomandibular Method (GCMM) when working at Melbourne TMJ and Facial Pain Centre under Darron Goralsky.
Her postgraduate experience includes training in Cervicogenic Dizziness and Cervicogenic Headache Management, Sensorimotor Training for Chronic Neck and Facial Pain, Dry Needle Therapy and Western Medical Acupuncture. She has also completed Facial Palsy International Foundation Course having seen an influx of facial palsies during Covid-19. She has also attended international conferences in Europe and Australia:
The Australian and New Zealand Association of Orofacial Pain (ANZAOP) Annual Conference in Sydney Australia in 2018; and the European Academy of Orofacial Pain and Disorder (EAOPD) Annual Conference in Noordwijk, The Netherlands in 2019; the International Facial Nerve Symposium in Madrid, 2025.
She is a member of the European Academy of Orofacial Pain and Disorder (EAOPD). She is a committee member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Temporomandibular Disorder (ACPTMD), a member of the Migraine Association of Ireland, the Irish Pain Society (IPS), and the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (mISCP), the Facial Therapy Specialists Internation (FTSI) for Facial Palsy.
She has experience in treating a wide range of neck and facial disorders including clicking and locking of the TMJ, TMJ related tinnitus, toothache, earache and sinus pain, Bell’s Palsy, Trigeminal Neuralgia, whiplash and post concussion syndrome.
She is part of an informal multidisciplinary team with referring GPs, Dentists, ENTs, Orofacial Pain Specialists and Maxillofacial Surgeons since returning to Ireland.
Kim Cusack sees the need for thorough care of orofacial pain sufferers in Ireland and is passionate about providing evidence based treatment and in educating her patients in managing and alleviating these often debilitating conditions. She continues to further her knowledge and professional development through courses, workshops and conferences.
